Gabardin is a tightly woven fabric with a twill weave and a steep diagonal line. It is a durable and sturdy slightly glossy fabric that is both water and wind resistant due to its dense weave structure.
We use heavier fabric like gabardine for outerwear, such as jackets, coats, trousers, and workwear. Thomas Burberry invented the material in the 1880s and used it for Burberry’s classic trench coat.
Cotton, polyester, and wool are the main components of gabardine, but other fibre mixes can also be used.
