“Our vision is to change our consumption habits and create a healthier planet together.”
We believe in
-
A world in which living in harmony with nature is the foundation, the source, and the most obvious way of living.
-
Happiness and well-being. Material things and consumption do not necessarily create those feelings.
-
A world where we care about everything and everyone, always.
- Through knowledge, we can convey insights.
-
That together, we can move mountains.
Why does ReThink exist?
ReThink is a project initiated and run by the Swedish association TänkOm. ReThink is about making us think again by understanding the consequences of consumption, generally and more urgently than ever, around clothes and textiles. TänkOm is partly financed by SIDA, which, like us, aims to spread global environmental goals. The Nature Conservation Society is also involved and cooperating with the project.
As we intend to spread the knowledge globally, ReThink/TankOm is in search of cooperation with environmental associations in other parts of the world.
The Founders
With almost 30 years of experience in the textile industry, Åsa Strandberg has acquired broad knowledge in everything from design, product development, choice of manufacturing processes and economic models. Her fundamental research in sustainable textile production is focused on the environmental consequences of the textile industry as well as the development of possible recycling methods – all with a focus on “closing the loop.”
Through strong love and respect for nature, Åsa has spent years building broad knowledge and experience of the industry’s waste of resources. She wants to share this with us and make us think again. ReThink wants to change minds by sharing knowledge and understanding so people can make informed decisions.
“There is so much we don’t know about that gets lost in the noise. More knowledge is always for better or for worse; how much information can and do we want to take in? If we love to travel, it isn’t easy to accept the environmental consequences of flying. If we love fashion, it is difficult to grasp how it actually affects the environment. In addition, the impact of textiles seems to be something that has disappeared in the tumult, while flying and driving is said to be the worst thing you can do. What if I claim that our clothing consumption is worse than flying? What if I claim that the clothing industry’s environmental consequences are not too far from the big and dirty oil industry? Would you believe it? Are you ready for some more knowledge?”
Welcome to Rethink!
Reference group
All information is based on facts to provide you with knowledge about the impact and consequences. ReThink knowledge is ensured through the reference group of experts and professors in textiles, chemistry, biology, technology, and forestry involved in the association.
