Most ascomycetes and basidiomycetes reproduce sexually by fusing different types of hyphae and forming a fruiting body. The fruiting body then produces spores that spread(like plant seeds) and establish themselves. The Common Puffball, for example, develops its spores inside the fruiting body and spreads them in a cloud when an animal or human steps on them.
