A family is the next systematic step up in the biological classification hierarchy before the genus and usually consists of one or more genera that are evolutionarily close to each other. Thus, the biological system differs from how humans refer to relatives, where family is closer than genus.
An example of a family is Chanterelles (Cantharellaceae) family, which includes the species chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) and Red-Yellow Trumpet mushroom (Craterellus lutescens)..
