Polyamide is a synthetic material invented in the 1930s and patented by the American company DuPont. As one of the first fully synthetic fibres, it revolutionised textiles with its strength, elasticity, and versatility, becoming widely used in clothing, ropes, nets, and tyres. Polyamide fabric refers to a range of textiles made from strings of polyamide monomers, with the most known example being nylon. Polyamide fabrics have become staples in both fashion and industrial applications, and they are known for their resistance to wear, quick-drying properties, and lightweight nature.
